Anything about Ford EEC tuning. TwEECer and Moates questions dominate, but there's some SCT and OBD-II knowledge too.

Is it detrimental to increase TV pressure on E4OD

Post by David Claflin » Wed Jan 28, 2026 12:45 pm

Converted my 91 F150 to HOGO1, I then increased TV pressure 10% on 1-2, and 2-3 shifts. It shifts much better, but I'm a little concerned this maybe too much for long term reliability. What say you?

I always thought firmer shifts resulted in higher reliability and longevity from ATFs. As long as it isn't so excessive that it's killing Ujoints and stressing the rearend, I wouldn't view it as a problem. But I am interested in what others say.

I looked up in the J4J1 tune just to compare and while the cobra tune had slightly higher pressures than what the HOGO has I did bump up the pressures in the tune about 10%. Seems a little firmer, but certainly not objectionable. Yes, I know the cobra has an entirely different transmission than what my F150 has, I was just curious what the pressures were. I even checked with the shop that rebuilt the trans in my truck and they said it wouldn't hurt anything.

All 94-95 Cobras and the J4J1 calibration were manual trans only. Whatever values are in the auto trans part of that calibration were not used by the factory.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and just found this forum while searching for Ford EEC tuning information.

There’s actually a lot of useful technical discussion here, especially for older setups and Binary Editor topics. Nice to see communities like this are still active after all these years. nulls brawl

Looking forward to learning more from you guys.

Solid point, didn't think of that.
